Project Details
Project Description
You will join the platform team responsible for cloud foundations that power multi-tenant, multi-region applications. The work blends greenfield automation with iterative hardening of existing environments: VPC design, identity and access, networking, cost visibility, and runtime security. The goal is to provide paved roadsβsecure defaults, fast feedback loops, and clear runbooksβso that product squads can move quickly without compromising reliability.
Core Responsibilities and Expected Deliverables
Design and codify cloud infrastructure using reusable Terraform modules and policy guardrails.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that support automated testing, image signing, and progressive delivery.
Operate Kubernetes clusters and supporting services, including autoscaling, ingress, service discovery, and network policies.
Implement end-to-end observability with metrics, logs, and traces; define actionable SLOs and alerts tied to user impact.
Partner with security on secrets management, least-privilege IAM, and supply-chain controls; document runbooks and incident playbooks.
Deliver well-scoped pull requests with rollout and rollback plans, and share concise technical notes for handoffs.
Required Experience and Preferred Qualifications
Foundation in networking, Linux internals, and containerization.
Exposure to distributed systems concepts such as caching, queues, and backpressure.
Nice to have: GitOps (Argo CD or Flux), policy-as-code (Open Policy Agent, Conftest), cost management (FinOps), and chaos or load testing.
Awareness of compliance practices such as SOC 2 controls and change management.
Certifications are welcome but not required.
Tools or Platforms to Be Used
Cloud: AWS or GCP/Azure (EKS/GKE/AKS, IAM/Identity, VPC/VNet, S3/GCS/Blob, CloudFront/Cloud CDN, RDS/Cloud SQL/Managed DB)
Orchestration and packaging: Kubernetes, Helm, Kustomize, container registries with image scanning and signing
Infrastructure as code: Terraform, Terragrunt; secrets via HashiCorp Vault or cloud KMS
CI/CD: GitHub Actions or GitLab CI with artifact promotion and automated release gates
Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Tempo or OpenTelemetry, Alertmanager or PagerDuty
Security: Trivy or Grype for image scanning, Sigstore/Cosign for signing, baseline runtime policies
Language Requirement
English is required for daily collaboration; additional languages are a plus but not required.
Communication Style
Asynchronous-first via Slack and GitHub with weekly Zoom stand-ups, sprint reviews, and post-incident retrospectives. Technical decisions are captured in lightweight RFCs in Notion.
Time Commitment or Working Window
Approximately 40 hours per week with flexible scheduling; core collaboration windows target late morning to late afternoon UTC. Participation in a compensated on-call rotation begins after onboarding and shadowing.
Payment Terms
Monthly salary with annual performance review and bonus eligibility. For contractors, milestone-based deliverables with biweekly invoicing and net-15 terms.
Evaluation Criteria
Demonstrated automation and infrastructure-as-code skills in public or private repos
Practical problem-solving in a time-boxed take-home focused on CI/CD and cloud architecture
Collaboration during a live pairing session and ability to explain trade-offs and incident response steps
Communication, ownership, and reliability assessed through interviews and references
Evidence of observability-driven operations and security-minded practices
Other Requirements
Standard NDA upon offer acceptance, identity verification, and reference checks compliant with local laws. Light-touch time tracking for contractors. Adherence to secure development lifecycle processes, change management, and incident response guidelines.
