Project Description
This role supports a steady pipeline of editorial content for client blogs, resource hubs, and social channels. Assignments include topic research, briefs-to-draft execution, headline testing, and light on-page optimization. Writers will work from structured briefs and brand guidelines and will receive regular editorial feedback to accelerate development.
Core Responsibilities and Expected Deliverables
Produce 4β6 blog articles per week (800β1,200 words each) aligned to briefs, target personas, and keyword themes.
Create short-form copy for LinkedIn, X, and Instagram to promote published articles.
Edit and refine drafts following editor comments and brand style guides, delivering clean, publication-ready copy.
Source credible references and attribute them appropriately; coordinate with design for simple graphics or callouts.
Update older posts with refreshed statistics, internal links, and metadata to improve search performance.
Track assignments and deadlines in the project board; communicate blockers early.
Required Experience and Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated writing ability through a personal blog, student publication, newsletter, or portfolio samples.
Comfort interpreting briefs and transforming research into clear, engaging narratives.
Familiarity with basic SEO concepts such as search intent, headers, and meta descriptions; formal training is a plus.
Preferred: coursework or internships in journalism, communications, English, marketing, or related fields.
Nice-to-have: exposure to B2B SaaS, fintech, consumer tech, or wellness.
Tools or Platforms to Be Used
Writers will draft in Google Docs and collaborate via Slack and Zoom. Tasks are managed in Asana, with publishing handled in WordPress or Webflow under editor guidance. Grammarly and Hemingway may be used for quality checks; Clearscope or Surfer may be provided for keyword alignment.
Language Requirement
Excellent written and spoken English is required. Additional proficiency in Spanish or French is helpful but not mandatory.
Communication Style
Primary communication occurs in Slack for daily check-ins and quick questions, with weekly Zoom stand-ups for assignment planning and feedback. Editors provide tracked comments directly in Google Docs.
Time Commitment or Working Window
Expect 20β30 hours per week during onboarding, with the option to grow to 35β40 hours as throughput and quality scale. Writers should be available for at least two overlapping hours with 9:00β17:00 ET on weekdays.
Payment Terms
Hourly engagement with biweekly invoices. Approved times are logged in Harvest. Rate reviews occur every six months based on quality, reliability, and throughput.
Evaluation Criteria
Submissions will be assessed on writing clarity, structure, adherence to briefs, evidence-based sourcing, and consistency with brand voice. A short paid test (800β1,000 words) and a brief editing task will be part of the process. Finalists may be invited to a 20-minute Zoom conversation with the managing editor.
Other Requirements
Selected candidates will sign a standard non-disclosure agreement and contractor services agreement. All work must be original and pass plagiarism checks. Reliable internet, time tracking in Harvest, and consistent availability for feedback cycles are required.
