Proficiency in Python or TypeScript, strong understanding of NLU and dialogue management, hands-on experience with LLM orchestration and retrieval, and comfort integrating ASR/TTS and contact-center platforms. Ability to ship observable, well-tested services and write clear documentation.
Project Description
EchoBridge Labs builds conversational experiences that let customers resolve issues through natural chat and voice interactions. The role centers on turning intents, knowledge bases, and business policies into robust dialogue designs and services that scale. You will prototype quickly, run offline and online evaluations, and harden solutions for production with the reliability, safety, and observability required in enterprise environments.
Core Responsibilities and Expected Deliverables
Design task-oriented and open-domain flows for chat and voice, including handoff policies and escalation rules.
Build and tune NLU models and prompt-driven components for intent detection, entity extraction, summarization, and tool use.
Implement retrieval-augmented pipelines with embeddings, chunking, and ranking to ground responses in first-party knowledge.
Integrate ASR/TTS and telephony (e.g., Twilio, Amazon Connect) with low-latency streaming and barge-in support.
Establish evaluation harnesses, golden datasets, A/B tests, and safety guardrails; define SLIs/SLOs for latency, accuracy, and containment.
Ship production-grade APIs and workflows with monitoring dashboards, alerts, runbooks, and clear developer documentation.
Required Experience and Preferred Qualifications
Solid programming skills in Python or TypeScript with testing, code review, and CI/CD fundamentals.
Experience with at least one dialog or orchestration framework (Rasa, Dialogflow CX, Microsoft Bot Framework, or equivalent) and familiarity with LLM toolchains.
Working knowledge of vector databases, search technologies, and analytics for conversation quality.
Preferred: experience with streaming ASR, TTS, voice activity detection, and analytics platforms; background in UX writing or conversation design is a plus.
Evidence of impact via internships, open-source, coursework, or shipped features will be valued.
Tools or Platforms to Be Used
Dialogue and NLU: Rasa or Dialogflow CX, spaCy or Transformers, prompt libraries, evaluation tooling.
Retrieval and storage: FAISS or pgvector, Elasticsearch or OpenSearch, Postgres/BigQuery, object storage for artifacts.
Services and infrastructure: FastAPI/Node.js, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, AWS or GCP, Terraform in partnership with platform teams.
Observability and quality: Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry-compatible logging, conversation analytics, red-teaming utilities.
Language Requirement
Professional English is required. Additional languages are helpful for cross-regional collaboration and voice tuning.
Communication Style
Written-first culture using GitHub issues and pull requests; Slack for daily coordination; Zoom for stand-ups, design reviews, and incident retrospectives. Clear, concise documentation is expected for all changes.
Time Commitment or Working Window
Standard 40 hours per week with flexible scheduling. Maintain a predictable daily block overlapping at least four hours with the core team between 09:00 and 17:00 in your local time.
Payment Terms
Salary paid monthly via payroll. For contractors, invoices are processed on net-30 terms upon acceptance of deliverables and timesheets.
Evaluation Criteria
Portfolio or code samples demonstrating dialogue design, evaluation rigor, and shipping discipline.
Practical exercise building a grounded conversational flow with retrieval and safety guardrails.
Technical interview on ASR/TTS integration, observability, and cost/performance optimization.
Final conversation on collaboration, product sense, and communication.
References may be requested.
Other Requirements
New hires sign a confidentiality agreement and follow security and data-handling policies. Light time-tracking may be used for distributed coordination. Occasional shared on-call for conversation platform updates may be required.
