Project Description
This role focuses on building and maintaining a shared front-end foundation used across several brand sites and microsites. You will collaborate with design to shape accessible, reusable UI components, ensure consistent theming, and deliver smooth interactions and animations. The work involves turning high-fidelity Figma files into clean, testable code, refining design tokens, and improving Core Web Vitals.
Core Responsibilities and Expected Deliverables
Implement accessible, responsive components from design specs using a component library and design tokens.
Optimize for performance, including image strategy, code-splitting, and critical-path CSS to improve Core Web Vitals.
Maintain a versioned design system and document usage patterns for other developers and content teams.
Write automated tests and participate in peer reviews to uphold quality and consistency.
Deliver well-scoped pull requests that meet acceptance criteria and include notes for release and rollback.
Required Experience and Preferred Qualifications
Foundation in semantic HTML, modern CSS (Flexbox, Grid), and JavaScript or TypeScript.
Portfolio or code samples demonstrating attention to accessibility (WCAG) and responsive design.
Nice to have: experience with internationalization, headless CMS integration, motion design, and performance profiling.
Relevant certifications are welcome but not required.
Tools or Platforms to Be Used
Frameworks and libraries: React, Next.js, or Vue with a component testing setup such as Testing Library
Styling: CSS Modules, Tailwind CSS, or styled-components; Storybook for UI documentation
Quality: Jest or Vitest, Playwright for end-to-end tests, ESLint, and Prettier
Delivery: GitHub Actions for CI/CD, Vercel or Netlify for hosting and previews
Analytics and quality signals: Lighthouse, WebPageTest, and first-party analytics dashboards
Language Requirement
English is required for daily collaboration; additional languages are a plus but not required.
Communication Style
Asynchronous-first through Slack and GitHub, with weekly Zoom stand-ups and design critiques. Specifications, tickets, and retrospectives are documented in Notion and Figma.
Time Commitment or Working Window
Approximately 40 hours per week with flexible scheduling; core collaboration windows target late morning to late afternoon UTC. Occasional planned release windows may require brief overlap outside core hours.
Payment Terms
Monthly salary with an annual review and performance-based bonus. Contractor engagements follow milestone-based deliverables with biweekly invoicing on net-15 terms.
