Project Description
You will join a cross-functional squad to ensure features are delivered with high quality and predictable behavior across devices and browsers. The work includes building lean test strategies, creating maintainable test suites, partnering with developers on acceptance criteria, and using analytics and logs to validate success in production. The goal is to prevent defects early, detect them reliably, and ship with confidence on a steady cadence.
Core Responsibilities and Expected Deliverables
Translate product requirements and user stories into clear test plans, acceptance criteria, and test cases with traceability.
Execute functional, regression, accessibility, and cross-browser/device tests; capture reproducible steps, evidence, and impact.
Build and maintain smoke and regression automation for critical paths; contribute to API and contract tests where applicable.
Validate APIs with positive/negative scenarios, schema checks, and idempotency; support data setup and teardown for repeatability.
Monitor release health with dashboards, error logs, and analytics; participate in defect triage and post-release reviews.
Deliver concise reports on coverage, risk, and readiness, with recommendations for mitigation and follow-up actions.
Required Experience and Preferred Qualifications
Foundation in software testing concepts, SDLC, and risk-based testing; ability to write clear bug reports and test cases.
Hands-on experience with web testing and basic API testing; exposure to CI pipelines and version control.
Nice to have: mobile testing, performance testing, accessibility testing (WCAG), security testing basics, and data validation with SQL.
Internship, open-source, or portfolio work demonstrating test discipline and thoughtful trade-offs.
Certifications such as ISTQB are welcome but not required.
Tools or Platforms to Be Used
Test case management and defect tracking: TestRail or Zephyr, Jira
Web and API testing: Playwright or Cypress, Postman, REST Assured where applicable
Mobile testing: Appium or Detox for targeted E2E flows
Performance and reliability: k6 or JMeter for load testing; Sentry or similar for error monitoring
CI/CD and collaboration: GitHub or GitLab, GitHub Actions or GitLab CI, Slack and Zoom for daily coordination
Language Requirement
English is required for day-to-day collaboration; additional languages are a plus but not required.
Communication Style
Asynchronous-first via Slack and GitHub with weekly Zoom stand-ups, bug triage, and sprint ceremonies. Test strategies, charters, and retrospectives are documented in Notion and linked to tickets for traceability.
Time Commitment or Working Window
Approximately 40 hours per week with flexible scheduling; core collaboration windows target late morning to late afternoon UTC. Limited, planned release windows may require brief overlap outside core hours.
Payment Terms
Monthly salary with annual review and performance bonus eligibility. For contractor engagements, milestone-based deliverables with biweekly invoicing on net-15 terms.
Evaluation Criteria
Quality of a short take-home focused on test design and edge cases, clarity of bug reports and reproduction steps, collaboration in a live pairing session building a small automated test, communication during interviews, and references confirming reliability and ownership.
Other Requirements
Standard NDA upon offer acceptance, identity verification, and reference checks compliant with local laws. Security and privacy training during onboarding. Light-touch time tracking for contractors to support accurate invoicing.
